ABOUT US

The team behind Vaasanai are a brother and sister duo - one with a passion for candles and the other being the creative genius - working together to produce beautifully scented, environmentally sustainable home accessories.

Vaasanai has been in the making since June 2020 but due to a multitude of obstacles and family loss, were only able to release in Dec 2021.

The duo design, pour, label & pack everything by hand, in the heart of London, in their home studio.

Vaasanai translates to the word ‘scent’ in the Tamil language. The name, written in English, was chosen as a homage to the team’s British and Tamil background.

All ingredients used are natural, vegan and sustainable.

OUR CHARITIES

A portion of all profits will be divided and donated to the below charities. Both charities do amazing work and are extremely close to the team’s hearts.

Prostate Cancer UK.

Prostate Cancer UK's top priority is funding research to stop prostate cancer killing men. They’re investing millions to find better treatments and better tests that can spot fast-growing cancers early, and could be used in a screening programme to save thousands of lives.

You can find out more information on their website at www.prostatecanceruk.org

A percentage of all Lemongrass & Ginger products sales will be going towards Prostate Cancer UK in memory of the team's dad, who sadly passed away 12.10.20.

Serendip Children’s Home

Serendip is a charity that was formed in 2009 in the aftermath of the civil war in Sri Lanka. Their objectives are to provide long term and sustainable assistance to the most vulnerable in society, predominantly in the north and east of Sri Lanka, where people continue to experience extreme poverty and severe hardship.

The work of Serendip is critical in providing educational services to underprivileged and disabled children, as well as vocational training and support for young adults and livelihood programmes for single parent families.

The charity also provides essential food and medicines for the elderly, and provides assistance in the UK to the parents of children with special needs within the Tamil and other minority communities.

You can find more information on their website at www.serendipchildrenshome.com

Serendips goals and objectives match with the team's values, as their parents originated from Sri Lanka. They know and understand the struggles they have been through.

A small percentage from the original collection will be going towards Serendip to contribute to the fantastic work they are already doing.
